The Malaysia Showcase pavilion was launched today at the Istanbul Congress Center in Istanbul during the 9th OIC Halal Expo, marking the start of promotion for halal-certified products and services from 35 Malaysian companies in Turkiye and abroad.
Officiated by the Consulate General of Malaysia to Istanbul, H.E Tengku Mohd Dzaraif Raja Abdul Kadir and accompanied by the Trade Commissioner of MATRADE Malaysia, En Zahiruddin Basiran, the launch ceremony signals the start of the Malaysian halal industry’s expansion into the Turkish market.
“Today we empowered our Malaysian business owners to take full advantage of the event and to create a vision for all Muslim entrepreneurs around the world to connect, collaborate and share information to expand, and to enhance and fortify their businesses to other parts of the world,” said H.E Tengku Mohd Dzaraif Raja Abdul Kadir.
Noting the intricacies to promote halal businesses globally, MATRADE Malaysia Trade Commissioner Zahiruddin Basiran explains that certain elements of innovation are needed by Malaysian halal businesses, including the ability “to boldly transform, to keep up with the latest, and to consistently engage with the end-users.”
“To thrive in today’s global halal market, business owners and entrepreneurs need to think about building brands, creating a distinctive identity for their goods, and connecting with the right audience,” said Zahiruddin.
Turkiye remains one of the most important emerging export markets for Malaysia with significant growth potential.
Last year (2021), Malaysia’s total trade with Turkiye increased by 74.5% to RM17.00 billion (USD4.10 billion) and this is expected to continue in the immediate future.
Ms Hema Kandy, organising chairman of the Malaysia Showcase, said that as a corporate organisation, the Malaysia Showcase intends to showcase eye-opening products and services made locally and internationally.
